EBB Retrofit Grants in Humboldt County

Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) logo

To Local Official,

The Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program will soon make available seismic retrofit grants for eligible Humboldt County homeowners living in areas impacted by the recent earthquakes in Ferndale in late December and near Rio Dell in January.

Starting Monday, May 22 and continuing through July 31, 2023, homeowners in select ZIP Codes will be able to apply for a grant of up to $3,000 to strengthen their homes and lessen the potential for earthquake damage. Homeowners can check to see if their house qualifies here..

Income-eligible Humboldt County homeowners may also qualify for available supplemental grants. The amounts vary depending on the type of retrofit completed. These supplemental grants, which are available for households with an annual income at or below $72,080, may provide up to 100 percent of the funds needed to cover a seismic retrofit. Grants are contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements and available funds.

To help us spread the word to Humboldt county residents, here is a one-sheet overview of the program that can be shared in the communities.

The Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB), program is jointly administered by the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).

Sincerely,

Janiele Maffei, S.E.
